Frida, Lisa & Tony

Hi folks.

I know many of you do not live in Tucson.

But a bunch of you do and this is for all of you.

Or perhaps too this is for those of you not here but wishing to be.

It's a beautiful time of year to visit the Sonorous Desert.

Anyways, there are three performances coming up and I find myself highly grateful to be among so many whose work I connect with.

On Oct. 9 there is a Tucson Botanical Gardens benefit which I think has sold out. For that event I'll be collaborating with Zuzi dancers via Mauerkrankheit cello techniques for a segment of the Frida Kahlo: Blood and Gold performance titled: Broken Column.

I may also sit in on cow bell for another segment.

Can never have enough cow bell.

On Oct. 15th I'll be joining poet etc. Lisa Roberston via POG Presents. Not quite sure about the scope of everything. It's all firmly in flux. Wonderfully so.

And if nothing else get a copy of Robertson's book Nilling. A great multiple read: http://bookthug.ca/shop/books/nilling-prose-by-lisa-robertson/

On Nov. 9th at the Temple of Exploded View, before the Tucson premier of Tony Conrad: Completely in The Present  *!!!YEAH!!!* I've been given the dream opportunity to conduct a dream orchestra comprised of the most sonically aware and innovative musicians this side of the globe for a performance of Tony Becomes A Buddha, an original score I drafted to explore the sound ideas and philosophical ruminations put forth by Conrad.

Expect amplified bowed guitars, cellos, violins, violas, just intonation, 60-cycle amplifier ground hum tuning, improvisation, drone, noise, piezo amplification, harmonics and slavish Pythagorean demagoguery deconstruction.

So that's about it for now.

Plus all three of these events will feature booze if that is an added incentive. And perhaps if all goes well after the November 8 election, there may even be some legal recreational marijuana.

Till again: Stay Tuned, Think Globally/Play Locally and Fuck Trump!
